Sandra Torrusio es Bióloga, Dra. en Ciencias Naturales de la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, experta en sensores remotos y SIG aplicados a la temática ambiental y emergencias naturales. Profesora Titular de Sensores Remotos, investigadora y Secretaria de Investigación y Transferencia en la misma Facultad. Se ha desempeñado desde 2008 hasta 2022 como investigadora principal de la misión SAC-D Aquarius, y gerente de vinculación tecnológica en la CONAE, la agencia espacial argentina. Cuenta con capacitaciones en Italia, Francia, Suecia y Japón. Directora de tesis de doctorado y maestría, y publicaciones nacionales e internacionales. Actualmente es “lead autor” del Global Environmental Outlook 7 (GEO-7) de Naciones Unidas.
(Sandra Torrusio is a biologist and holds a PhD in Natural Sciences from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Museum, National University of La Plata. She is an expert in remote sensing and GIS applied to environmental issues and natural emergencies. She is a Full Professor of Remote Sensing, researcher, and Secretary of Research and Technology Transfer at the same faculty. From 2008 to 2022, she served as the principal investigator for the SAC-D Aquarius mission and as the manager of technology transfer at CONAE, the Argentine space agency. She has received training in Italy, France, Sweden, and Japan. She supervises doctoral and master’s theses and has national and international publications. Currently, she is a lead author for the United Nations’ Global Environmental Outlook 7 (GEO-7).)
