Dr. Benjamin K. Malphrus

Dr. Benjamin K. Malphrus is Executive Director of the Space Science Center at Morehead State University. He has served on the scientific staff of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. He served as Principle Investigator (PI) on nanosatellite missions including KySat-2, the Cosmic X-Ray Background Nanosatellite (CXBN), CXBN-2 and the DM Processor. He is PI on the Lunar IceCube Mission- a NASA project designed to investigate the transport physics of water ice on the Moon. Ben is director of NASA-Affiliated Deep Space Station -17, a 21 meter ground station at Morehead State University that provides lunar spacecraft operations services. He has published papers on topics ranging from extragalactic astrophysics to nanosatellite systems, books on astrophysics and small satellite development and has been awarded over $42M in R&D grant funding.
